Accident: Kangel Danda Airfield 19-Apr-2010. The aircraft was damaged during a landing at Kangel Danda Airfield, Nepal. The aircraft, operated by Royal Nepal Airlines had left Kathmandu-Tribhuvan Airport (KTM) on a domestic flight to Phaplu Airport (PPL) with Kangel Danda as designated alternate airport. It was unable to land at Phaplu due to poor weather. The crew decided to divert to their alternate, the remote mountainous airstrip at Kangel Danda. The airplane touched down on its nose gear first, caused some minor damage in the nose section (station 60).
Note: Will undergo the upgrade program that was tendered back in 2015 for installation of TAWS and TCAS, as well as wing repair (replacement?). 9N-ABX has been grounded at Kathmandu for about five years. The company also acquired a needed replacement engine for 9N-ABX in late 2016, but it was instead installed on 9N-ABT, the only serviceable Twin Otter at the time.
