Accident: Cocoa Palm / Dhunikolhu Island Resort. 10-Mar-2010. The aircraft departed Male’ at 1043 hrs, with 3 crew and 13 passengers on board. The sky was clear with good visibility and wind, 5-7 knots, from north westerly direction. The estimated flight time was 30 minutes. First officer was flying the aircraft; it was his second flight of the day. A normal approach was carried out with correct flaps settings and speed. At about 10-15 ft above water on short finals FO saw coral heads ahead on the path of landing and hence tried to land sooner. During the approach for landing, the Pilot in Command felt that the sink rate of the aircraft was too high. He called “add power” and tried to increase the power while the FO’s hand was on the power levers. Aircraft landed and bounced with the right-wing hitting water. The right-side wing tip and aileron was damaged. All the passengers and crew got off the aircraft safely
Accident: Sustained wing damage on landing at Male on 02-Aug-2013. Repaired.
